120' Rohn 55 @ W1SMS

Always a treat to do an install only within a few miles of our home QTH. We headed over to Danbury, CT to finish getting the remainder sections, guys and a Tic ring done for Steve. The Tic will have a multiband mosely and the top of the tower will have an array of VHF/UHF/Microwave signal sources from 50mhz up to 10ghz.

OB13-6 @ WA2KNC/4X8JA

Headed to NJ this weekend to meet Jack WA2KNC/4X8JA to build his new Optibeam OB13-6 antenna. The OB13-6 covers 10,12,15,17,20 and 40 on a ~27' heavy duty square boom. Engineering excellence is what you quickly see when dealing with a Optibeam!

200' Tower in VA

This was a fun one! 200' of Rohn25 overlooking the ocean. The wind was a major issue for us but patience finally paid off and we got it done!

Maintenance at W2EG

Rich had us up to replace the motor on his UST 72' and repair some control cables in an underground conduit to the house. Additionally we hung a 80m sloper from the tower towards EU and the initial reports are its working FB!

Maintenance at WA2IKL

Off to the very nice QTH of WA2IKL in Northern Jersey. We basically did a thorough inspection of all the equipment as some was non-functional. The 100' Sky Needle's Prop Pitch needed some TLC as one of the limit switches was badly corroded and only allowed movement in the CCW direction. We inspected, repaired and lubricated both sets of cables on the Sky Needle as well as the 70' Tri-Ex crankup tower. We will be making a second visit to return with the equipment to repair the issues we found.

Replace Yagi's at K2UV

Working down the long list of unfortunate repairs in the North East, K2UV decided to replace the damaged 205BA and log periodic with a 20/17/15 and a 10/12 duobander Force12 yagi's on his 89' crankup. Having a seized mast bearing along with limited area to tram the new antennas we decided to use a lift to safely and quickly replace the top antenna as well as install the 36' boom antenna to minimize the risk of damage. This decision was a good one as it saved countless hours trying to secure the mast and then climb it not to mention how quickly we could access any part of the antennas.

Rotor swap at W2MV

Saturday we headed south to southern Westchester county where wind damages were the worst we have seen in the area. At Alan's W2MV's there was still tree crews removing trees from the storm 6 weeks ago. They lost power for 6 days and 3 telephone polls came down in the street. The 25 year old rotor put in a fight but ended loosing the battle. The X7 looked great!

WA2OAX 40M Repair

Continuing the list of repairs, we head up to the Catskills to a beautiful QTH of WA2OAX. His 2 element M2 40M yagi had a failed loading support. Since there was about 18' separation we decided to repair the beam in the air and we were successful. Ira should now be back to business with a strapping signal from up state NY on 40M.

Repair at KC1XU

We have seen some of the worst wind storms over the past two months that we haven't seen in a long time. Most of our scheduled repairs over the next 4-6 weeks are all repair work from the wind storms here in the north east. We had the pleasure to meet and repair Keith KC1XU's FB installation in CT this past weekend. The winds spun the antennas on the mast as well as caused one element of his hygain 6M long boom yagi to vibrate out of the clamp. Keith is thinking of installing a second tower and really making some big jumps at his QTH, I think we will be hearing some real big signals from KC1XU soon!

Thanks Keith for your great review!

"Hudson Valley Towers Review was added

Posted By KC1XU

Enthusiastically Recommended!
Over the years, I have had several companies perform tower/antenna installation and service.  Simply put, Hudson Valley Towers was the most prepared, professional, and congenial outfit to date.  I am considering the installation of another tower, and if I move forward, they will get the job."

New antennas on NYC skyline

Finished up getting N2EHG all complete with his new satellite array and multiband wire Optibeam! After getting cut short a few times trying to beat the North East weather we finally connected the last connector and fired up on HF with the optibeam. Very nice reports on all bands and we were lucky to have some E-skip on 10 meters to work some stateside DX on the higher freqs as well. The antenna shows flat SWR on all bands and very nice F/B for only 2 elements on all bands.

Yaesu 2800 install WB2ZEX

Jerry's original Alliance HD73 let go with the high winds we had a few weeks ago, so he ordered up the big 2800 from Yaesu. This morning we showed up just before the rain and was able to replace it within a few hours.

Replace Motor and Limit Switches @ WA2PLT

Phil called us since he has been QRT for a few years and his 72' USTower had problems moving. After we tested the components, we quickly found both limit switches were filled with rust and the motor was on it's last legs. Replaced the limit switches, motor, pulley and greased all the cables, back in action!
